What is Leadership GPhA?

Made possible by a generous grant from the Georgia Pharmacy Foundation, Leadership GPhA is a 3-day academy focused on developing tomorrow’s pharmacy leaders for our state and our association.

 

Goals include:

Who can participate?

Participation is limited to 8 candidates per year. Applicants should:

Past presenters:

Kay Brooks, R.Ph., M.Ed., NBC-HWC

Kay Brooks is the Associate Director of Community Introductory Pharmacy Practice Experiences (IPPE) at the University of Georgia, College of Pharmacy.  Her primary role is developing the Community IPPE curriculum in collaboration with quality sites and preceptors across Georgia. In addition, Kay teaches and precepts pharmacy students in a variety of areas including tobacco cessation, leadership, teaching and academia, immunizations, ambulatory care, point-of-care testing, health behavior change, and communications.  She also serves as the advisor for the student leadership society, Phi Lambda Sigma.  Kay graduated with a BS Pharmacy from Drake University, completed a residency in association management with the American Society of Consultant Pharmacy, and received her M.Ed. in Health Promotion and Behavior from the University of Georgia.  She has over 25 years of professional and pharmacy practice experience which have included association management, continuing education programming, consultant pharmacy, community pharmacy, and academia.  In addition, Kay is a nationally certified health and wellness coach and fitness advocate with a renewed interest to hit the golf course!

Brandon T. Jennings, PharmD, BCACP
Dr. Brandon T. Jennings is the Founder, President and CEO of Abilyn Consulting, LLC. In this role, Dr. Jennings collaborates with organizations to build stronger teams, improve operational efficiencies, and establish realistic strategic goals. He is also a certified GiANT facilitator and shares these principles with leaders and teams across the country.

Dr. Jennings has spent over 15 years in the pharmacy education and health care environments. He has served as a clinical faculty member at both the University of Utah College of Pharmacy and Shenandoah University School of Pharmacy, and as Executive Director of the Sinclair Health Clinic, which is a free and charitable clinic in Winchester, Virginia.

Dr. Jennings received his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia in 2006 and completed a Pharmacy Practice Residency with Emphasis in Community Care at the same institution in partnership with Kmart Pharmacy in 2007. He has collaborated on 10 peer-reviewed articles and has received numerous awards in his career. Dr. Jennings is also a Member of the Board of Directors for the Virginia Association of Free and Charitable Clinics and has served Phi Lambda Sigma, the Pharmacy Leadership Society, in various roles over the last 7 years including its current Executive Director. He currently resides in Winchester, Virginia with his wife and two children.
