Membership Benefits
For Pharmacists
GPhA is committed to advocating on behalf of pharmacists throughout the state, bringing issues that are important to independent pharmacies before the State and representing the interests of pharmacy at the Capitol. In addition, GPhA will provide information, resources, and critical up-to-date news needed to run a successful business, create a vibrant career, or manage large practices in hospitals or long-term care facilities.
GPhA provides continuing education opportunities for all pharmacists, including courses in managing medication errors, adherence, antimicrobial stewardship, and quality measures. Those are available online and on-demand to fit your busy schedules. In addition, the Annual Georgia Pharmacy Convention, held each summer on Amelia Island, has at least 30 hours of CE courses available over one long weekend.
We also offer training in pharmacy management and leadership training to help you navigate the complex career ladders, plus practical courses in OSHA requirements and PDMP reform.
And each of our Practice Academies – Academy of Independent Pharmacy, Academy of Employee Pharmacists, and Academy of Clinical and Health System Pharmacists – provide additional practice-specific training and networking for its members. Pharmacists in their first and second year of practice will receive all these benefits at a discount, as they begin their pharmacy career.
For Pharmacy Technicians
As of July 1, 2023, pharmacy technicians are required to have 20 hours of continuing education credits before renewing their licenses. GPhA offers CE access to courses at reasonable prices, including a full day of training each fall during our Tech U.
For Current Pharmacy Students
GPhA membership offers the chance for pharmacy students at any point in their education to get connected with the most influential pharmacists in Georgia. Students learn how to network, search for jobs, find their preferred practice area, and advocate for the practice of pharmacy each year at the state Capitol.
The biggest value GPhA brings you is our advocacy in the state legislature and with state regulators. Passing a single pro-pharmacy/pro-patient bill — or defeating a misguided bill or regulation — can mean thousands of dollars difference to pharmacies.
