Build Your Professional Skills for Patient Care
The Georgia Pharmacy Association is pleased to announce that GPhA’s Immunization Delivery Training program for Pharmacy Technicians has received recognition as an education provider for the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board’s (PTCB) Immunization Administration Assessment-Based Certificate.
Sunday, October 20, 2024, 9:30am – 12:30pm
GPhA offices, Sandy Springs, GA
The program
GPhA’s Immunization Training for the Pharmacy Technician helps technicians become skilled in the administration of vaccines to patients as permitted by Georgia law. We’re pleased to be able to offer TWO in-person live sessions to reach more technicians across the state – one in the south, on Jekyll Island, and one in Sandy Springs, just outside the city of Atlanta. There is new vaccine information for the 2024-25 influenza and COVID vaccines included in this year’s training sessions.
Taught by Christine Klein, PharmD, and Johnathan Hamrick, PharmD, this course covers proper administration technique and includes the related areas for the legal details that permit pharmacy technicians to immunize in Georgia, while also covering vaccines and immunology, ordering vaccines with inventory management standards, billing and reimbursement, and critical vaccine administration documentation.
You do not need to be a GPhA member to register, but registration for non-members includes membership good through December 2025! All pharmacy technicians who are registered and in good standing with the state of Georgia are eligible to take this course. Upon passing, technicians will meet the legal standard to be eligible to administer vaccines under the supervision of a credentialed immunizing pharmacist. National certification is not required to participate in this training, nor is it required to immunize under Georgia law.
The course is accredited by ACPE and consists of 3 sections:
- 3.0 learning hours of on-demand self-study,
- 3.0 learning hours of LIVE, in-person training with skills assessment
- 1.0 learning hour IMZ Injection Skills Assessment
- 1.0 learning hour for post-course cases
A total of 8.0 learning hours meets Georgia law for a pharmacy technician to immunize patients and provides 8.0 CPE credits earned. This course is also recognized by PTCB to be eligible to sit for its Advanced Exam to earn its Immunization Administrative Assessment Based certificate.
